SUMMARY:Run for a Heartbeat
DESCRIPTION:My name is Herbie Sakalauskas, and this November, I’ll be taking on a personal challenge with a purpose: running the full 185 miles (276 km) of the Cape Breton Cabot Trail to raise funds for a LUCAS device for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.\nA Chest Compression Device, which is a portable machine that provides automatic chest compressions during CPR. In an emergency, it helps keep blood flowing to the brain and vital organs, giving someone in cardiac arrest a better chance of survival. Its ability to deliver consistent, high-quality compressions, even while a patient is being moved or treated.\nI’m undertaking this effort in memory of my father, Simon, who passed away in 2018 from heart complications. This run is my way of honouring his life while helping others in our community who may one day need lifesaving care.\nStarting Friday, November 7, I’ll set off from the Gaelic College monument in Baddeck and run the iconic Cabot Trail route. The same 17-leg course as the renowned Cabot Trail Relay Race. The journey will take me over steep mountains in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, through small coastal communities, across the scenic Margaree Valley, and into the village of Baddeck.\nI welcome anyone who wishes to donate to this cause, and I’d be grateful for any running companions who want to join me along the way. Together, we can turn every mile into a chance at life for someone in need.\nLet’s make every step count.\nDonate now:\n\nBBWebsiteComponent.goalMeter('renxt', 'p-1Yn27PBqfUWJvcyrry_nbw', 'ae4c420d-2838-42cb-afdf-d8884477d249', 'can', 75)\n\n\nBBDonorFormLoader.newBlackbaudDonationFormZoned('renxt', 'p-1Yn27PBqfUWJvcyrry_nbw', 'a8a47b0a-1b55-4508-84e7-97d313ed5b8f', 'can')\n
