SUMMARY:Run for Radio Day: Herbie Sakalauskas
DESCRIPTION:I’m back with another challenge, and this year I’m going bigger.\nLast year, I ran the 276 km Cabot Trail Relay route, over four days. It was an incredible experience- tough, exhausting, and unforgettable- and the support I received along the way made every kilometer worthwhile. With your help, we raised enough funds to purchase a LUCAS CPR Device and 12 sleeper chairs for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.\nThis year, I’m taking on an even bigger challenge: 298 km, the entire Cabot Trail loop, around the clock.\nI’ll start on October 6th, with the goal of crossing the finish line on October 8th during Radio Day in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. Unlike last year, there will be no stopping each evening. I’ll keep moving around the clock, taking only short breaks to refuel and rest – no long stops and no nights off.\nAnd once again, I’m running for a cause that matters to me and to our community.\nThis year’s Radio Day campaign is raising money to purchase two portable X-ray machines for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. For critically ill patients, these machines allow essential imaging to be done right at the bedside rather than transporting vulnerable patients through the hospital- making an important difference to patient care and safety.\nI know how tough 298 km is going to be. Last year, I had four days to complete 276km. This year, I’m asking my body to run further, in roughly two days. Knowing that every kilometer supports our friends, family, and neighbours will keep me moving when things get tough.\nI’m asking my friends, family, fellow runners, and Cape Bretoners near and far to support my challenge. Every dollar raised will go towards helping the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation purchase these two vital X-ray machines.\nIf you can donate, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this page, following along through the Cape Breton Fiddlers Marathon social media and cheering me on means just as much.\nLast year, I ran the Trail. This year, I’m going back to run it around the clock- and I’m hoping Cape Breton will come along with me.\n298 km around the clock. For our hospital. For our community. For Radio Day. \nSupport Herbie’s efforts today:\n \n\n\n
