McHappy Day

McDonald’s has been an outstanding community partner and friend of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. Over the last decade, with support from all of those who participated in our community, over $600,000 has been raised through McHappy Day events on the Island. Thank you!

This year, McHappy Day has a goal of funding two Belmont Rapid Infusers for the Emergency Department at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, which serves approximately 45,000 patients each year. This lifesaving equipment is designed to rapidly deliver large volumes of intravenous fluids and blood products to patients experiencing trauma, septic shock, and other emergencies.

McHappy Day 2026 takes place on Wednesday, May 6. Show your support by purchasing any menu item or donating to our volunteers in the drive thru. Locations supporting our Foundation are Sydney, Glace Bay, Walmart Spar Road, Sydney River, Membertou, and North Sydney.

Here’s what McHappy Day, and your support, has helped to purchase over the past few years:

2025 – Centralized Monitoring System: A system that allows Pediatric nurses to constantly monitor patient vital signs, enabling them to quickly identify patient needs and intervene before critical situations arise.

2024 – Video Endoscopic Unit: A mobile and versatile unit has for ENT (ear, nose, throat) care, and is currently being used throughout pediatrics, ambulatory care, the ICU, and the ER. It has improved airway assessments and enhanced diagnostic accuracy, enabling timely interventions for patients in critical need.

2023 – Toy Room Renovation: A complete makeover to the Pediatrics Toy Room, making it a welcoming, interactive, and joyful space to provide comfort and security to little patients during what can be isolating and scary times.
