Teal to Heal surpasses $1 M raised for Cape Bretoners facing gynecological cancers

Teal to Heal Cape Breton – Unama’ki has officially surpassed an incredible milestone, raising more than $1 million in support of Cape Bretoners living with gynecological cancers, in just five years.

Held on Mother’s Day (May 10, 2026) at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre, the fifth annual event raised $271,885.42, and brought together thousands of participants, volunteers, donors, sponsors, survivors, and families in a powerful show of community support.

Presented by MacDonald Auto Group, Teal to Heal supports the Teal at Home Fund through the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. The fund helps to provide comfort packages for those with new diagnoses, and to cover medical-related costs like travelling to specialist appointments, childcare during treatment, psychologist visits, medications, respite care, and more.

Because of the incredible support in our community, Teal to Heal is also now able to purchase equipment to enhance patient care, such as Vein Finders, and fund research with a goal of advancing earlier diagnoses.

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to Founder Dena Edwards Wadden, the Teal to Heal volunteer committee, participants, sponsors, and the entire community for continuing to prove that we are stronger together.
