21st annual Festival of the Greens raises over $220,478 for health care in Cape Breton

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation hosted its 21st annual Festival of the Greens, presented by Cape Breton Beverages, Nova Scotia Spirit Co., Blue Lobster and Annapolis Cider, this past Saturday at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.
The sold-out holiday gala hosted over 450 guests for dinner and entertainment, including sets from local band The Back Pack, performances from Fusion Productions, and a dance led by The Mellotones.
The fundraising portion of the evening included an online silent auction, followed by a live, in-person auction led by auctioneer Tashia Lee. New to this year, the silent auction was made public, allowing anyone to bid on items from home.
The event also recognized the late Alfie MacLeod, a long-time supporter of Festival of the Greens and the voice of charitable live auctions in Cape Breton. In his memory, “A Toast to Alfie,” was offered as the signature cocktail. All proceeds from the cocktail supported the night’s fundraising efforts, thanks to Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.
The total raised was unveiled at the end of the evening, announcing an incredible $220,478 for health care in Cape Breton.
“We are so pleased to have expanded on our support of Festival of the Greens this year,” says Shannon Lynch-Colbourne, President and CEO, Cape Breton Beverages Ltd./Trans-Atlantic Preforms Ltd./Nova Scotia Spirit Co./Annapolis Cider Company. “Together, through our long-standing friendship and partnership with the Foundation, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen health care across our island.”
“We continue to be astounded by the support, generosity and compassion our local community shows for health care, right here at home,” says Paula MacNeil, CEO, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. “It was truly a remarkable evening, spent in wonderful company. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, I extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported Festival of the Greens.”
