Mental Health and Addiction Services
We’ve Reached Our Goal! Thank You to Donors of the Mental Health and Addictions Major Gifts Campaign!
On September 18th, 2013, Mental Health and Addiction Services changed for the better in the Cape Breton District Health Authority (CBDHA). The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation launched a $1.35 million major gift campaign, chaired by volunteer George Unsworth.
Thanks to the generosity of the Cape Breton Mental Health Foundation, who made a leadership gift of $675,000, all donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, to create a significant impact on mental health and addictions care in our community.
This broad based major gift campaign will support four funding priorities for Mental Health and Addiction Services at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and in our community, including:
Funding Priority | Projects/Care Area | $ |
At Risk Youth | Mobile Outreach and Drug Prevention | $500,000 |
Housing (Six SHIMI Units) | Six SHIMI (Subsidized housing for individuals living with mental illness) Units | $630,000 |
Transportation | Two Vans for Crossroads Clubhouse | $75,000 |
Inpatient Health and Wellness | Recreation/exercise equipment, tub and lift, facility upgrades | $145,000 |
Total | $1,350,000 |
We have reached our fundraising goal, however, the needs for Mental Health and Addictions are significant. For more information, contact us at
